With so many things to do in the stunning city of Brugge, Belgium, here are 5 things that I would spend my day doing… I hope this helps you plan your trip!
Experience the Torture Museum
Want to do something different in Belgium? The torture museum is a great place to visit during your time in Brugge, it is filled with over 100 torture instruments with descriptions of how they were used. It gives a really detailed insight as to the way people would be treated back then, if they were accused of criminal activity. Adult entry prices are 8 Euros (2020).
.
Eat as Much Chocolate as you can!
Everyone knows the best chocolate is made in Belgium, and you cannot leave Brugge without sampling some chocolate from one of the many chocolate shops and cafes. You wont have a problem finding a good chocolate shop as they are literally on every street! Hot chocolates are also a MUST and some cafes even let you stir your own chocolate piece into warm milk – delicious!
.
Enjoy a Beer in the Market Square
The Market Square is in the centre of Brugge and is home to colourful buildings, the historium and vibrant restaurants. This is where you must sit, relax and watch the world go by. Food and drink prices are higher in The Market Square, however the atmosphere makes it well worth it!
.
Wander Down the Narrow Streets
There are so many quaint, narrow streets in the city of Brugge, yet its impossible to get lost! You always seem to loop back to one of many popular spots in the city, meaning you can tuck your phone away and experience the city without using your maps to get you around! Down many of these narrow streets you will find beautifully decorated restaurants and shops, you’ll want to peek inside!
.
Admire the City from the top of the Bell Tower
Climb 366 steps all the way to the top of the Bell Tower, to get the most amazing views over Brugge. There is a limited number of people allowed in the tower at any one time, so expect to queue for a while whilst waiting to get in, and once you do, prepare for 366 steps all the way to the top. Prices are quiet reasonable, costing an adult 6 euros.
