Anytime of year is a great time to visit The New Forest, especially this spring, when the sun was shining and a bank holiday weekend was approaching, it was the perfect time to enjoy a weekend away. Just north of Lymington, surrounded by wide open spaces and nature, is the dog-friendly Passford House Hotel which is where we stayed. Lymington is a lovely area itself, filled with a range of restaurants, cafes and a train station. You can easily get around The New Forest by train, however I’d highly recommend bringing a car if you can, as the scenic drives are lovely, and the freedom to go from one area within The New Forest to the next, makes the trip much more flexible.

The Hotel
Passford House Hotel is located north of Lymington, on the edge on The New Forest, and dates back to the 16th century, so has a lot of history and character! Immediately when you drive/walk in, you’ll see the gorgeous front of the hotel which is covered in wisteria and greenery. The hotel has it’s own parking area so be sure to make use of that! With 9 acres of grounds, along with a Monet Garden, outdoor pool and tennis court, you won’t find yourself short of things to do. On top of this, they have an indoor pool and offer massages and a gym to use during your visit. Oh, and it is a dog-friendly hotel, so feel free to bring your four-legged friends with you, I’m sure they will love it as much as you do!
The dining area, which you can visit during dinner, afternoon tea and during breakfast, is light and airy, and offers beautiful views of the gardens and terrace, perfect in the summer! The staff at the hotel are so friendly and make you feel right at home. They have multiple areas around the hotel to relax in, including the bar, a cosy lounge area and a courtyard with seating and beautiful garden features.

The rooms are beautifully decorated, with charm that holds some of the hotels history. I loved the style of our room and had a ‘favourite corner’ (see photos) where there was a beautiful chair to relax in. The room also included a TV, desk area, for you writers or business-minded people! In the morning, head down to the dining area and enjoy a buffet breakfast, with bacon, eggs, tomatoes, mushrooms and more! They also have cereals and toast, along with a selection of fruit to choose from. We really enjoyed our stay at Passford House Hotel and loved exploring the surrounding areas.
