East Sussex is an area filled with greenery, lovely towns and things to do. Located right next to Kent, it’s easy to get to from London although some of the places listed below would be much easier to explore with a car. If you’re after something outdoorsy to do in the area then I’ve got you covered! Scroll down to see my favourite things to do in East Sussex, most of which I do all weathers, not just the summer… enjoy!
Enjoy the View from Beachy Head
Beachy head is a stunning countryside area by Eastbourne. It has gorgeous views over Eastbourne beach, trails for walkers and plenty of parking. It’s personally one of my favourite places to set up a picnic, go for a walk and watch the sunset. It is famous for its lighthouse which you can spot over the edge, but be careful!! It’s a nasty drop down, so keep your distance.
Explore Bodium Castle
Bodium Castle is lovely place to spend the day with the family, with plenty of picnic spots and activities to take part in! Bodium Castle is part of the National Trust, so if you’re a member then admission and parking is free!
Take a Stroll at Ditchling Beacon Nature Reserve
Ditching Beacon Nature Reserve is the perfect place for a long walk with amazing views. It’s a great place for friends, family and even dog walkers too! There is plenty of parking at the top, however it can get filled up pretty easily in peak seasons.
Watch the Sunset at Ashdown Forest
Ashdown forest is another amazing place in East Sussex to go for a long walk and a breath of fresh air, with plenty of different areas to walk, as well as drive around and park up, it makes a lovely day out. On a clear day, I’d really recommend going in the evening so that at the end of your walk, you can enjoy the sunset.
Relax on Hastings Beach
Hastings is a beach filled with things to do! A town filled with shops, cafes and restaurants, plenty of activities for children such as football pitches, a wooden park, go karting and many more. There is adventure golf, arcaded and plenty of places to grab an ice cream!
I hope you enjoy your day out in East Sussex, and if you have any questions or need more tips, ask away in the comments!
As always, love Elise x
