If you’re like me, then life gets pretty busy, so when you have an upcoming trip, you don’t always have the time to spend planning and researching things to do/how to go about it. BUT, if you do, and you’ve ended up here, then great, I’m going to make sure you don’t make the same mistakes as I did when visiting Barcelona, so here are three things you MUST do BEFORE you head out on your city break…

1. Book in Advance

I cannot stress this enough. We visited Barcelona in November, so not even during peak season yet some of the attractions were fully booked for the entire 3 day trip. La Sagrada Familia gets especially busy and was fully booked for the next 5 days. Booking online in advance not only guarantees you access, but also usually saves you a bit of money on the ticket price too.

2. Ensure you know how to get around

Barcelona is a huge city, so when booking your hotel, make sure you have planned your routes to each of your must-see stops, because you could end up booking far away from everywhere you want to visit. Public transport in the city is incredibly reliable and frequent, so this shouldn’t be a problem – just don’t leave it until you get there!

..

3. Learn Basic Spanish / Catalan

I think its common decency to learn a couple of words and phrases before you visit any country. Most people in Barcelona speak Spanish, Catalan and English. They really appreciate you making an effort so even if you only learn, hello, please and thank you in either Spanish or Catalan, it goes a long way!

Happy adventuring!

As always, love Elise x
