I don’t know about you, but as soon as the sun decides to go away for the winter, and the rain starts pouring, all of my motivation disappears. Usually, when not at work, you will always find me somewhere outdoors, exploring, drinking coffee and taking photos as I go. However when it starts to rain, I’m often left wondering how to spend my day before it’s over and the working week appears again. So, after much thought and scrolling through memories on the camera roll, I have come up with 5 things to occupy your rainy weekend this winter!
.
- Get Baking! Why not spend the day using up your leftover cupboard ingredients, and treating your friends and family to some homemade treats. Whether you prefer sweet or savoury, there are endless recipes online which makes difficult baking a thing of the past. If you’ve got young kids, baking would be a perfect way to spend some quality time together, and let them get their hands filthy! Find out how to make my chocolate lovers’ cupcakes here.
.
- Enjoy a movie & games day in! I find days indoors really challenging. All I want to do is get up and go out, but occasionally I do favour a lazy day filled with hot chocolates and putting my feet up with a good movie (or two). Whether your a Netflix member or not, everyone has easy access to a variety of movies so get cosy and enjoy! If you’re not alone, playing a few board games (or online) is a great activity and a much better use of your time than with your nose stuck in your phone – just my opinion!
.
- Spend the day in a spa. Although this option costs more than others, there is no shame in treating yourself or a loved one to a relaxing spa day. Choose a spa that offers access to the gym & pool all day as well as treatments, if you’re going to do it, you should go all out, right?! .
- Do some window shopping (or actual shopping)! If you’ve got the money to spend then a rainy day is the perfect opportunity to head over to your nearest shopping centre and treat yourself. If money is not available, window shopping is also so much fun and keeps you out somewhere social!
.
- Get creative with some DIY projects. One of our favourite things to do on a rainy day is DIY! Whether a certain area in your home needs a little extra love, or you fancy making something bespoke, creating a DIY project is so much fun! Most things are fairly easy to do indoors, and you may end up creating something you truly love!
.
I hope you enjoy those rainy days, please let me know what you get up to in the comments!
As always, love Elise x
